The Four Steps to Healing the World: A Proposal to Congress

I’ve been thinking about how we interact with the rest of the world. Too often, our government tries to negotiate complex treaties or push cultural agendas while the people on the ground are hungry or thirsty. We are trying to build the roof before we lay the foundation.
I am drafting a policy to send to my Representatives in the House here in California. It proposes a strict, new hierarchy for US foreign policy. We shouldn't talk about high-level politics until the basics of human life are secured.
I call it the "Sustenance, Sanitation, and Stewardship" Doctrine. Here is how it works.
The Rule of Order
We must treat nations like people. You cannot have spiritual peace if you are starving. Our foreign aid and diplomacy should follow this strict order. We don't move to the next step until the previous one is finished.
Step 1: Sustenance (The Right to Eat)
The Priority: Feeding people. If a nation cannot feed its own people, we have no business talking to them about trade, weapons, or politics. Our only interaction should be ensuring they have food. If you are hungry, nothing else matters. The Goal: No starvation.
Step 2: Clean Water (The Right to Drink and Clean)
The Priority: Hydration and Hygiene. Once bellies are full, we look at the water. This isn't just about drinking; it’s about the dignity of cleanliness. People need water to wash their bodies, scrub their floors, and keep their homes decent. The Goal: Universal access to clean water for drinking and washing.
Step 3: Merriment (The Right to Liberty and Land)
The Priority: A healthy environment for families. "Merriment" means the liberty to enjoy your life, your spouse, and your children. You cannot have merriment if your land is toxic. In this stage, we help nations "take out the trash." We help clean up the waste and pollution so the land is safe for families to live freely. The Goal: Healthy land that supports human joy.
Step 4: Obeying God (The Cancellation of Debt)
The Priority: Total Forgiveness. Only when people are fed, washed, and safe on their land can we talk about the highest calling: Obeying God.
Jesus taught that all sins are forgivable, except for "Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit." In the context of nations, I define this unforgivable sin as the permanent refusal to forgive.
If we want to obey God in our foreign policy, we must practice the ultimate forgiveness: The Cancellation of Debt.
We must wipe the financial slates clean.
We must forgive historical grievances.
We cannot ally with nations that refuse to forgive.
The Bottom Line
We need to stop holding debts over the heads of starving nations. Feed them first. Clean them second. Heal their land third. And then, forgive them completely.
This is the message I am sending to Washington. It’s time to get our priorities straight.
